Physicians Directory
The Physicians Directory is a searchable database of Ontario physicians. Use it to find referring physicians by name, OHIP number, or specialty.
Searching
Navigate to Reference > Physicians in the sidebar. Search by:
- Name — first or last name
- OHIP billing number — the 6-digit physician number
- Specialty — filter by medical specialty
- City — filter by practice location
Physician Details
Click on any physician to see their full profile:
- OHIP billing number
- Name and specialty (with specialty emoji indicator)
- CPSO registration status — whether they’re currently registered with the College
- Practice location — city and address
- Hospital privileges — facilities where they have privileges
- Medical school — educational background
Using Physicians in Claims
When creating a claim that requires a referring physician, the lookup field searches this directory. Start typing the physician’s name or number to find them.
Favourites
Click the star icon on frequently-used physicians to add them to your favourites. Favourites appear at the top of search results for quick access.
Adding a Physician
If a physician isn’t in the directory, click Add Physician to create a new record. Enter their OHIP number, name, and specialty. The record will be available for use in claims immediately.
Geolocation
If you grant location access, the directory can show physicians sorted by distance from your location. This is useful for finding nearby referring physicians.
