Ontario Physician Billing Numbers

You need a SnapBill account to look up billing numbers. The directory is inside the SnapBill app at app.snapbill.ca/physicians , not on this page. An account is free for anyone, including clinic and billing staff. Physicians add their own OHIP billing number and CPSO number the first time, and residents their CPSO number.

How to find a billing number

1. Open app.snapbill.ca/physicians  in your web browser (computer or phone). Nothing to download.
2. Sign in:
   • Already have an account? Sign in the same way you signed up. If you used Google, click Continue with Google. You don’t need a password.
   • No account yet? Click Sign up. It’s free and takes a minute.
3. The first time, physicians enter their own billing number and CPSO number (residents: their CPSO number). Not a physician? Choose I’m not a physician. You only do this once.
4. Type the physician’s name in the search box. Their 6-digit OHIP billing number is shown next to their name.

Next time, go straight to app.snapbill.ca/physicians , or click Physicians/Billing Numbers in the left-hand menu of the app.

The directory covers Ontario physicians: OHIP billing number, specialty and CPSO registration status, searchable by name, number or city. It’s the same directory SnapBill uses to fill in the referring physician on claims. A number marked Self-reported was given to us by that physician and hasn’t been confirmed with the Ministry yet.

Searching

You can search by:

• Name — first or last name
• OHIP billing number — the 6-digit physician number
• Specialty — filter by medical specialty
• City — filter by practice location

Physician Details

Click on any physician to see their full profile:

• OHIP billing number
• Name and specialty (with specialty emoji indicator)
• CPSO registration status — whether they’re currently registered with the College
• Practice location — city and address
• Hospital privileges — facilities where they have privileges
• Medical school — educational background

Using Physicians in Claims

When creating a claim that requires a referring physician, the lookup field searches this directory. Start typing the physician’s name or number to find them.

Favourites

Click the star icon on frequently-used physicians to add them to your favourites. Favourites appear at the top of search results for quick access.

Adding a Physician

If a physician isn’t in the directory, click Add Physician to create a new record. Enter their OHIP number, name, and specialty. The record will be available for use in claims immediately.

Geolocation

If you grant location access, the directory can show physicians sorted by distance from your location. This is useful for finding nearby referring physicians.
