OHIP Connection
To submit claims electronically, SnapBill needs access to your MCEDT (Medical Claims Electronic Data Transfer) account. This page explains how to connect and maintain that connection.
Setting Up Your Connection
- Navigate to Settings > OHIP Connection
- Enter your EDT User ID and EDT Password — these are the credentials you use to log into the OPS BPS portal
- Click Verify Connection
- SnapBill will test the credentials and confirm the connection is active
Prerequisites
Before connecting, make sure you’ve completed these steps:
- Registered for OPS BPS — you need an active OPS BPS account
- Set up direct deposit — required for receiving payments
- Designated SnapBill as your provider — SnapBill must have upload/download permissions on your OPS BPS account
Connection Status
The OHIP Connection tab shows the current status of your connection:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Connected | Credentials are valid and SnapBill can submit on your behalf |
| Disconnected | No credentials entered, or credentials need to be updated |
| Error | Credentials are invalid or permissions are incorrect |
Updating Credentials
If you change your OPS BPS password, you’ll need to update it in SnapBill:
- Go to Settings > OHIP Connection
- Enter your new password
- Click Verify Connection to confirm
Troubleshooting
”Permission denied” error
Make sure you’ve completed both parts of the Designate Provider process. SnapBill needs “MC EDT SERVICE (UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD)” permissions with “Select All” enabled.
”Invalid credentials” error
Double-check your EDT User ID and password. If you’ve forgotten your OPS BPS credentials, visit the OPS BPS website and click “Forgot your ID or password?”
Connection was working but stopped
OPS BPS passwords expire periodically. Log into the OPS BPS portal directly to check if your password needs to be reset, then update it in SnapBill.
