Submission Deadlines
Important timing information for OHIP claim submissions.
90-Day Rule
OHIP accepts claim submissions within 90 days of the date of service. Claims submitted after this window will be rejected.
SnapBill tracks service dates and will warn you when claims are approaching the deadline. You can also set up deadline reminder notifications to receive email alerts.
Remittance Advice Inquiries (RAI)
If a claim is rejected, you can fix and resubmit it as an RAI within 7 months from the date the claim was rejected. After this window, the claim cannot be resubmitted.
Why Timely Submission Matters
OHIP processes payments in the order claims are submitted. Regular, timely submissions help:
- Ensure faster payment processing
- Reduce payment delays
- Maintain consistent cash flow
- Avoid claim rejections due to expired deadlines
Best Practices
- Submit claims weekly or bi-weekly — don’t batch up to the deadline
- Review rejected claims promptly so you have time to resubmit
- Use the Submissions page to track what’s been sent and what’s pending
- Keep an eye on the billing timeline on your dashboard for upcoming deadlines
